Housing Australia is a government organisation that strives to improve housing outcomes for Australians by supporting efforts to increase the supply of houses.
The guarantees that Housing Australia offer are constantly evolving and the website needs to be flexible to accommodate these changes. Digital Garden created a user-focused experience that provides more relevant information and helps users make clear and informed decisions.
The homepage for the new Housing Australia website uses a tab based system to present relevant information to the different types of Housing Australia users.
Tools and helpful information are presented upfront and clear, responding to the needs of everyday Australians and those who build and invest in housing.
Digital Garden designed and developed four tools on the website, including a guarantee eligibility checker and regional postcode checker.
These tools were overhauled to improve the usability and provide users with clear guidance based on the result of the tool. The tools make it easier for people like first home buyers to decide if they can apply to one of Housing Australia's guarantees.
The Housing Australia website has been built on Drupal and utilises the flexible, scalable codebase and modules that the platform has to offer.
The frontend user experience is seamless and has been built to WCAG 2.1 AA standards and the backend editing experience is intuitive and easy to use. Key features include the use of paragraph browsers and lock nodes to provide client editors with an enhanced editing experience.
