Complete design refresh

Complete design refresh

Digital Garden rose to the challenge and delivered a more contemporary and fresh design for the Pacific Islands Forum. Across several templates, there was a focus on promoting full width content, allowing for imagery to be much more impactful for users. This was particularly the case for the 2050 strategy page which summarises the vision for all Pacific People to lead healthy, productive lives. The wave motif was created as a homage to the Pacific Islands Forum logo as well as their identity as Pacific People.

Developing on Drupal

Developing on Drupal

A significant part of this redevelopment project was migrating to Drupal as the new content management system. As champions for Drupal, Digital Garden were eager to build this new site under the newly upgraded D10 and take advantage of the user-friendly and powerful interface. The Pacific Islands Forum content editors were well trained on how to manage this system and generate content for their new website.

Content migration

Content migration

The Pacific Islands Forum houses a great number of publications to properly document Forum meetings, speeches and communiques which have taken place. Digital Garden carried out a large-scale content migration to move over 1,500 publications to the new site. This was a successful migration and retained the related categories, imagery and content for each publication.

Animations and interactions

Animations and interactions

As with other sites we have built in the past, Digital Garden incorporated simple but effective animation across the site. This included a “lazy load” effect on pages as well as a parallax effect on the header banners as the users scrolls. We are strong advocates for animations on a site to properly bring it to life for the user and help create a more engaging browsing experience.
