Our win for the National Library of Australia website is a testament to the exceptional collaboration between our team, our clients Cathie and Gail at the NLA, and our project partners. Together we delivered a modern, accessible, and scalable website for one of Australia’s most treasured cultural institutions.

We also want to acknowledge the valuable initial discovery work led by Folk, who conducted the information architecture and user research. Their insights laid a strong foundation for Digital Garden's further user research, UX, UI and Drupal development work.

The project combined deep technical and design thinking – from building a custom design system (in both light and dark modes), to connecting to essential services like the Catalogue, Trove, and the NLA Bookshop. Every element was designed with flexibility, accessibility, usability and long-term maintainability in mind.

In addition to our win in the AWA 2025 Government category, we were also named as finalists in two additional categories – Community & Culture and Tech: Drupal – making this recognition even more meaningful.

A huge congratulations to the entire Digital Garden team for your creativity, focus, and care across every phase of the project.

The Australian Web Awards celebrate excellence in digital design and development across the country – and 2025 marks their 20th anniversary. We’re incredibly proud to have been part of it.
