For the past 20 years the Informed Tourist have provided and enabled Sydney’s tourism industry to reach customers via brochures in hotels, backpackers, and other outlets throughout Sydney and surrounding districts. They came to Digital Garden to bring their printed brochure into the digital realm, to connect the tourism industry like never before, ensuring that travellers, accommodation providers and information outlets always have Sydney's best attractions, activities, tours, events within reach, online across all devices.
The new Informed Tourist website is powered by Drupal, and showcases over 100 events, attractions, tours and activities taking place around Sydney. There is custom designed interactive map that allows users to view activities happening in the different regions around greater Sydney, they can also view activities through date and type filters.
As well as catering to the general public, clients of Informed Tourist (over 80 hotels around Sydney) can login and use the site. Hotels are provided with subdomains that allow them to co-brand the Informed Tourist website and provide a concierge service for their guests, promoting local activities, tours or attractions. Guests can either go to the hotels white labeled Informed Tourist site via a hotel specific URL, or via a QR code that they can access in the hotel lobby.
Hotels are also able to further access brochures, pay for priority listings and modify their own content through the backend of the system.
Creating a visual language to be used throughout the site to graphically communicate the different types of activities to a global audience.
A custom mobile site was developed, giving the user tools that they need on the go, right at their finger tips.
