Great Wall Tours have been in business for over 15 years, offering quality, well priced tours in Asia, Europe and the Middle East for the over 50’s age group. Offering their users and customers two websites, one tailored towards the Chinese market and the other towards the Australian market, our clients main challenge was to offer their clients an online way to purchase tours in both Chinese and English.
Previously Great Wall Tours' sales were coming from a number of travel agencies in Sydney that resell their tours via word of mouth and newspaper ads (Chinese newspapers and The Sunday Telegraph) and then trying to direct to the website for enquiries. As a result, not enough leads and enquiries were coming through these outlets which forced Great Wall Tours to reconsider their strategy towards selling tours.
Digital Garden proposed to create a multilingual website in Drupal with an e-commerce integration, allowing their clients and users to not only book and order tours on the website in English, but also Chinese for a large portion of their target audience.
Each page, and piece of content on the website could be created in English or Chinese or both, allowing users to navigate through the site in either language. Each version of content (whether in Chinese or English) can actually contain different content instead of a direct translation allowing for total flexibility in maintaining different copy, imagery and pricing for both languages.
