A new Drupal website with 3 levels of authorisation – members, staff and delegates

The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) is one of the most active and innovative trade unions in Australia, with over 55,000 members. It is at the forefront of defending the public sector and the essential services it provides to the community. The website acts as the hub for up-to-date information, news, events, campaigns and resources.

Membership is open to employees in a wide range of industries including the public sector, telecommunications, call centres, employment services, commercial broadcasting, the aviation industry and science and research.

The CPSU website was extremely out-dated and very difficult to manage due to the limitations of the Content management System. As a result the site was not adequately maintained. In addition, all content, including staff and member information and confidential delegates area was publicly available.

Digital Garden’s solution was to redesign and develop a new technically superior website on Drupal CMS, allowing for rich media content, social media integration and a secure login area with three levels of authorisation – members, staff and delegates. The public facing website content was focussed towards recruiting new members.
