Abacus Property Group is a diversified property group that specialises in investing in property opportunities across Australia’s commercial property markets. As part of their portfolio Abacus own a number of shopping centres and needed a website for each centre:
As Abacus are looking to grow their retail portfolio and a solution that would allow them launch a website for each new acquisition quickly and efficiently. Each shopping centre website needs to have levels of customisation that will allow them to reflect the centre's brand.
Ease of use is a high priority for Abacus, as the websites are going to be updated on a daily basis by the different centres marketing managers. Digital Garden wanted to create a solution that would deliver a high degree of user experience across all devices.
Digital Garden came up with a Drupal Multisite solution so Abacus could easily create new websites for new centres when required.
The pros of creating multi-sites include:
- Each shopping centre is structurally identical however can be branded with its own colours, images, fonts and logo. This allows for all centres websites to have their own personality and look different from one another.
- Each site has its own database, configuration settings and content managers.
- New shopping centre websites can be created quickly and efficiently with minimal design and development efforts (i.e. reskin ready).
The Village Bacchus Marsh is the first out of four websites to be launched, and has received positive reviews and feedback from the Abacus shopping centres marketing teams. They are looking forward to rolling out the sites for the other centres.
To attract users to frequently visit the site, the latest information of deals and events that are happening within the centres are dynamically pushed to the homepage. The websites use a masonry grid layout to tile the website content for a more engaging user experience. The site manager can easily promote content from anywhere within the site to automatically appear to the homepage by just clicking a button.
Each site is able to showcase all the stores within the respective centres, with individual store details pages displaying their details, opening hours, contact information, location, logo and image gallery.
