background:

DFAT’s intranet is used by 5,500 employees in 90 embassies and consulates around the world. Staff use the intranet to source critical policy and procedural information often in a pressured diplomatic environment.

brief:

redesign of intranet with focus on making information easy to sift through and retrieve.

what we did:

involved representatives from a mix of DFAT sectors in a series of investigations to uncover user needs, frustrations and desired outputs. Iterations of wireframes expressing the concepts coming from user input were tested and resulted in a user-centred site that was a good balance of browse and search capabilities with additional quick access tools.
